The client brought in a single mourning cockade from President Abraham Lincoln’s funeral bought at auction. He asked us to create a display that featured the historical artifact and showcased its significance.

Design Elements include:

  • Mulitple visual composites featuring researched informative passages and a map depicting the path of Lincoln’s funeral procession.

  • Engraved plate with a description of the mourning cockade.

  • Water-gilded gold fillets.

  • Black suede preservation matboards.

  • Authentic gold-leafed closed corner frame in the American reed style.

  • Documentation and certificates of authenticity are included in a pouch on the reverse of the display.

  • All materials and techniques adhere to PPFA guidelines for Preservation framing.
